The mission of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau (CSTB) is to enhance Hong Kong’s position as a East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange under the 14th Five-Year Plan, reinforcing Hong Kong’s leading position in the international arts market and facilitating the development of arts, cultural and creative industries. In addition, arts and culture, creative industries, sports and tourism can complement and reinforce each other’s developments. A diversified environment where Chinese and Western cultures meet, the availability of world-class cultural and sports facilities (including the West Kowloon Cultural District (WKCD) and Kai Tak Sports Park) and a wide variety of cultural and sports events and performances are valuable tourism resources in Hong Kong for attracting tourists who are interested in culture and sports. Apart from facilitating the development of arts and cultural industries, Hong Kong can help promote Chinese culture through tourism as well as enhance professionalism in the sports sector, and develop sports as an industry.
