The Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) provides support to eligible elite sports under the Elite Vote Support Scheme (EVSS) . Currently, there are 20 “Tier A” high performance sports at the HKSI, including badminton*, cycling*, fencing*, swimming*, table tennis*, windsurfing*, athletics, billiard sports, equestrian, gymnastics, karatedo, rowing, rugby sevens, sailing, skating, squash, tennis, tenpin bowling, triathlon and wushu.
* Badminton, cycling, fencing, swimming, table tennis and windsurfing are “Tier A*” sports, whose athletes have been consistently achieving outstanding results at international Major Games or have the potential to be medallists at the Olympic Games.
Also, the HKSI provides support to eligible elite disability sports under the Elite Vote Support Scheme (EVSS) for Para Sports. There are currently six “Tier A” elite disability sports at the HKSI, including badminton (Physical Disability), boccia (Physical Disability), swimming (Intellectual Disability), table tennis (Physical Disability), table tennis (Intellectual Disability) and wheelchair fencing (Physical Disability).
