The Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) was established in April 1991 as the delivery agent of the Government’s elite sports training system. The Government established the Elite Athletes Development Fund in 2012 with an injection of $7 billion, and a further injection of $6 billion in 2018-19, to provide a stable financial source for the HKSI to support the development of elite sports.
